Jiulong Cave
(jiǔ lóng dòng 九龙洞) is located 17 kilometers southeast of Tongren City (tóng rén shì 铜仁市), Guizhou Province (guì zhōu shěng 贵州省). It is on the mountainside of the Guaiyin Mountain (guān yīn shān 观音山) which is on the east bank of Malong Stream (mà lóng xī 骂龙溪). It is a karst cave in large scale. There are various stalactites in the cave, which are in different color and different shapes. It is a famous summer resort in Guizhou. The Jinjiang River (jǐn jiāng 锦江) in front of the cave, and the Liulong Mountain (liù lóng shān 六龙山) at back added more beauty to the Jiulong Cave.

Jiulong CaveIt is said that there were six dragons in Liulong Mountain. They invited three green dragons to get-together in the cave. After seeing the fairy like cave, each of them wants to appropriate the cave as their own. They quarreled with each other for a long time. Till the next morning, no one can get back home. Therefore, they entrenched on a huge pillar in the cave, and can leave any longer. Hence the cave got its name Jiulong, which means nine dragons.

Jiulong Cave is grand and magnificent. It is 70 meters wide. The widest part of the cave is even up to 100 meters. The height of the cave is ranges from 30 to 70 meters. The opened part of the cave is 2258 meters, covering an area of 70000 square meters. The cave can be divided into 7 halls, among which there are 3 halls are open to the public. There are caves in the halls, and every hall is connected with each other.

Jiulong CaveThe first hall is a declining flat-roofed cave. In the right side of the cave, there standing various stone pillars, while on the left there are stone flowers. The most attractive one is the stone pagoda and the long sword, which are tall and straight.

The second hall is a flat-roofed cave. There are stone curtain hanging on the roof, which are dainty and exquisite. On the left side of the hall, there is the stone bed, on the right side, the stone bamboos are green, dotted with the jade-like stalactite and the black pillars. All these will make your mind thronged with thoughts.

Jiulong CaveThe third hall is a round-roofed cave. It is so large that it can hold tens of thousands people. It is regarded as the grandest cave of the whole cave. On both sides of the hall, there are tree thick pillars connected to the roof. The pillars are more then 30 meters high. The highest one is up to 39.88 meters, which is the highest in China, and the second highest in the world. What’s more, there are stone flowers on the pillar, making the hall is like a superb palace. In the hall, there is an underground river, which is clean, going through the cave, and formed a waterfall on the cliff in front of the cave.

The most amazing scene is that 1.5 kilometers away from the Jiulong Cave, there are two little caves. One is warm and one is cold, which is rare in the world.

Transportation:
1. You can take a bus at the north bus station to Yangtou Town (yàng tóu zhèn 漾头镇), and get off at Jiulong Cave on the way. And then take a boat at the bank of the Jingjiang River.
2. You also can take a boat at Ximen Bridge (xī mén qiáo 西门桥) to get there directly, which will take you about half an hour
