   Zhijin Cave
Zhijin Cave
(zhī jīn dòng 织金洞), also called Daji Cave (dǎ jī dòng 打鸡洞), is located in Zhijin County (zhī jīn xiàn 织金县), Bijie City (bì jiē shì 毕节市) of Guizhou Province (guì zhōu shěng 贵州省). It was first recovered in April, 1980. The cave is a treasury of the underground arts, at the mean time it is a museum of karst. It is regarded as the wonder of the world.

Pagoda ForestZhijin Cave is a dry cave that lost its subterranean river long, long ago. And it is crowned as the king of the cave because of its magnificent scenery. The opened area of Zhijin Cave is up to 350 thousand square meters. It has over than 40 kinds of speleothems, which are the stalagmites, stone pillars, pagodas, drums, and flowers.

At present, the cave is divided into 10 scenic zones, namely, the Yingbin Hall (yíng bīn tīng 迎宾厅), Sutra Hall (jiǎng jīng táng 讲经堂), Pagoda Forest (tǎ lín dòng 塔林洞), Wanshou Palace (wàn shòu gōng 万寿宫), Wangshan Lake (wàng shān hú 望山湖), Jiangnanzeguo (jiāng nán zé guó 江南泽国), Xuexiang Palace (xuě xiāng gōng 雪香宫), Lingxiao Palace (líng xiāo diàn 凌霄殿), Guanghan Palace (guǎng hán gōng 广寒宫) and the Shiwan Mountain (shí wàn dà shān 十万大山).

Stalactites in Zhijin CaveYingbin Hall is more than 200 meters long. Because of the sunshine from the outside, the hall is covered with moss. In the top of the hall, there is a round hole, through which the sun can go directly to the bottom of the cave. On the edge of the hole, there are drops of water, falling down continuously. In the sunshine, all the drops are like hundreds of thousands gold coins. Thus the hole is called Luoqian Hole (luò qián dòng 落钱洞, means coins are falling down from the hole). In the little hall beside the Yingbin Hall, there is a stalactite, which is more than 10 meters high and in a shape of the mushroom cloud formed after nuclear bomb explodes, hence the name of Mushroom-Cloud Hall (mó gū yún tīng 蘑菇云厅). In the hall there is also a pond named Shadow Spring, because you can appreciate the shadows of the stalagmites in the cave.

Sutra HallSutra Hall gets its name for the arhat shaped stalactite. The hall is about 200 meters long and 50 meters wide. In the center of the hall there is a pool, covering an area of 300 square meters. The pool is divided into two parts by the stalactite, hence the name Riyuetan Pool (rì yuè tán 日月潭).

Pagoda Forest, also called Golden Pagoda Forest (jīn tǎ chéng 金塔城), covers an area of over 16000 square meters. There are more than 100 stone pagodas in the hall, which are in golden color. Wangshan Lake is a underground lake, which is 170 meters long, over 40 meters wide. It is the terminal of the whole cave, which can lead you to every scenic zone. The stalactites around the lake are in black. The highest one among them is up to 10 meters, like a sago cycas. At the northeast bank of the lake there is a abrupt slope, which has two branches. One will lead you to the Lingxiao Palace, and another to the Guanghan Palace.
