Undergraduate Admission
1. Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent to a Chinese high school graduate;
- Efficient Chinese language skills (5 grade of HSK or above);
- With age 18 through 35.
2. Application Submission Period
Undergraduate application is open from March 1 to Jun 10.
The following materials are required to submit together with your Application Form:
- The Secondary/High School Diploma ( copy );
- Official copy of Secondary/High School Transcript;
- HSK test results;
- Photocopy of Passport (including the valid visa page if you are already in China);
- If you are a current student at one of China’s universities, please present a certificate agreeing to your transfer from its office of international students.
3. Apply Online
Please log on the Online Application System for International Students, create an account, complete the online application form, submit all required materials. The application procedure is as follows:
Fill in online application form → Upload required documents → Completeness examination by the university → pay the application fee → University Screening → Issuing Admission Letter.
4. Entrance Examination
An Entrance Examination for bachelor candidates is held in the middle of June.
Most of the applicants will be required to take the Entrance Examination. Some outstanding high school graduates, applying for enrollments on majors in Liberal Arts, may be exempted from the examination.

5. Admission Notice and Entry Visa
If your admission is granted, BIT will send you an Admission Notice and a JW202 Form by mail.
With the BIT Admission Notice, JW202 Form (visa form), private passport and personal Physical Examination Record, please go to the Chinese embassy or consulate to apply for entry visa (X status visa) to China.
6. Campus Housing Application
If you wish to live on campus, please complete a separate campus housing application form, and submit it as early as possible.
7. Registration
Admitted students should register at the International Student Center (ISC) of BIT, and follow the registration schedule specified in the Admission Notice.
If a student fail to register on time without a notice to and agreed from ISC of BIT in advance, he/she may be regarded as giving up the admission.
To register, a student must submit the Admission Notice, JW202 Form, and your Physical Examination Record by original test result.

Language program admission
1. Application Qualifications
Individuals who are above 18 and have completed high school education or have got academic records equivalent to a Chinese high school graduate;
2. when to Apply?
For spring semester enrollment, please apply between November 1 and January 31.
For autumn semester, applications between May 1 and July 31 are acceptable.The following materials are required to provide with your Application Form:

4.If you are a student in one of China’s universities now please present a certificate agree your transfer from its office of international students.The spring semester starts from beginning of March and the autumn semester is from beginning of September.

Usually student will be issued an X status visa to study in China for more than six months or an F visa for less than six months (F visa can only be extended one time for another six months).

Students should register at the International Student Center Office, Room 1144, Central Teaching Building and follow the registration schedule specified in BIT Admission Notice.
To register, a student must submit the Admission Notice, JW202 Form, 5 photos (same size as the photo on passport), and your Physical Examination Record by original test result (for X visa holder).
7. Placement Examination
Chinese language students may take the examination after registration for classification of their own Chinese level so that they may choose an appropriate class level to study.

Graduate Admission
1. Qualifications
- Master's program applicants should be university graduates or will graduate by July 31. A doctoral program applicant should have a master's Dgree in the same major or in the relative field of interest;
- Efficient Chinese language skills* (6 grade of HSK);
- Recommending by two professors.
*Note: Chinese (Mandarin) is the principle teaching language. BIT also offers some programs in English. Applicants for English taught programs are not required to have Chinese language skills.
2. Application Submission Period
Graduate application is open from January 1 to April 30.
The following materials are required to submit together with your Application Form:
- The Highest Educational Level Diploma ( copy );
- Official copy of Transcript;
- HSK test results (If you have);
- Photocopy of Passport (including the valid visa page if you are already in China);
- Recommendation letters from two professors;
- If you are a current student at one of China’s universities now please present a certificate agreeing to your transfer from its office of international students.
3. Apply Online
If you are applying for admission under Chinese Government Scholarship, please apply online at CSC Online Application System. Please be known that the Agency Number of Beijing Institute of Technology is 10007.
Other applicants please log on the Online Application System for International Students of BIT, create an account, complete the online application form, submit all required materials. The application procedure is as follows:
Creat an account → Fill in online application form (Upload required documents) → Completeness examination by the university → pay the application fee → University Screening → Issuing Admission Letter.

Exchange/Visiting Student Admission
Exchange Students
Beijing Institute of Technology has over 20 partner universities abroad with active student exchange programs. We welcome students from our partner universities to join us as an Exchange Studentfor short periods of one semester or one year and return to their home university at the end of the exchange period.
Visiting Students
If your home university does not have a student exchange agreement with BIT, you may apply to study at BIT for a semester or a year as a fee-paying Visiting Student.
Application Procedures
Step 1: If you are applying as an exchange student, we need nomination by your home university. Exchange applications will only be accepted on the basis of official nominations from the exchange coordinators of our bi-lateral partner universities. Ask the exchange coordinator of your home university to send an approval e-mail to the International Office of BIT or to the partner school at BIT.
If you are applying as a visiting student, you may contact the interested school or professor of BIT for possible acceptance before you fill in the application form.
Step 2: Complete the application form online.
step 3: Print out a copy of your completed online application form and submit it along with the following required documents:
- copy of passport pages with photo and personal details;
- transcripts of academic record;
- study plan / statement of purpose.
Application Deadline
Fall Semester (September - January), apply before July 15;
Spring Semester (March -July) , apply before January 15.
