The department of Neurology of Guangzhou Red Cross Hospital was founded in 1958. Our department has already grown into one of the most important clinical departments of the hospital, and it has 54 hospital beds, strong technical forces and good medical equipments. Altogether, there are 12 neurologists and 1 technician, including 1 chief physician, 2 associate chief physicians, 1 Doctor and 5 Masters of Medicine, as well as a returned scholar.We are good at the diagnosis and treatment of the neurological diseases such as cerebrovascular diseas, epilepsy, Parkinson’disease, dementia, diseases of peripheral nervous system, headache, myasthenia gravis, and so on. We also have a great deal of experience in rescuing with complicated and critical cases. We won medical contribution awards of the hospital over 10 years. In the past 5 years, the department has undertaken 11 research projects, including 1 was funded by the provincial natural science foundation, 2 by the provincial department of science and technology, 1 by provincial health department, 1 by provincial Chinese medicine bureau and 5 by municipal health bureau.We has developed modern diagnosis and treat techniques techniques in the last 10 years, such as cerebral angiography, minimally invasive surgical procedure, endovascular stenting, intra-arterial and intravenous thrombolytic therap, endovascular therapy cerebral aneurysms and cerebral arteriovenous malformation. One of the most important thing is the foundation of the green channel for acute cerebrovascular diseases, which means that the patients could receive diagnosis and treatment first and pay the money speak next, which could shorten the time of diagnosis and treatment efficiency.Currently, cerebrovascular diseas, cognitive dysfunction and neurorehabilitation are our main researching focus and developing directions. The department has neuro electrophysiological rooms and external counterpulsation devices, which create favourable conditions for the patients.The outpatient department is located in No. 301 and 302 room of the outpatient bulding, where the physicians in charge work every day. There is a specialist outpatient of memory impairment on Thursday morning, and a specialist outpatient of headache on Friday afternoon. The patients can get expert outpatient service in No. 324 room every day, but the time for VIP is on Friday morning.Zhang Suping, chief physician, has been working in the department of Neurology of Guangzhou Red Cross Hospital as the director and academic leader.
