Brief Introduction to BFLS-BFSU
Beijing Foreign Languages School, BFSU (hereinafter referred to as BFLS-BFSU), is a full-time, boarding and semi-boarding school providing elementary and high school education under direct leadership of Beijing Foreign Studies University. Featuring in foreign languages teaching, it has cultivated a large number of diplomatic and foreign affairs talents renowned at home and abroad. There are currently about 2,300 students, nearly a hundred of whom are international students.

Accommodation
The dormitories for international high school students are standard rooms. Laundry and cleaning service is also available. The dormitories for international elementary school students are four-room apartments with four beds in each room.
Dining
The school engages professional nutritionists to provide students with various types of foods with balanced nutrition. Elementary school students are provided with set meals. High school students can choose Chinese food and international food.
Other Facilities
The school is equipped with a clinic, a gymnasium, a library, a computer room and other facilities.
Curriculum
BFLS-BFSU curriculum aims to develop students’ ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing, prepare them to get accustomed to all-Chinese teaching environment and lay foundations for them to enter Chinese or international universities.

2. Application Materials
Note:
Students can provide certificates demonstrating specialty and other supporting materials.
* All copies shall be printed on A4 papers.
The school reserves the right to require applicants to provide other related materials.
All application materials will not be returned after submission.
3. Application Time
Applications for elementary and high schools could be made anytime during each year, but the academic year starts in early September and late February.
4. Entrance Examination
*Telephone interviews can be arranged as a way of identifying and recruiting international students.
5. Matriculation
The International Affairs Division of BFLS-BFSU divides students into different classes based on students’ written examination, and issue Letter of Admission and Visa Application Form for International students Studying in China to the qualified students.
Students shall come to school to pay charges and register at the time noted on Letter of Admission.
BFLS-BFSU provides international students with visa services. Students in China need to submit relevant materials one and a half months before visa expiration .
International students are required to submit the related materials before June 15.
6. The Period of Schooling &Graduation
The period of schooling for elementary education is six years; that for junior high school and for senior high school is three years. Graduation Certificate is received upon completion of the courses and after passing all the examinations. The Enrollment Agreement will be terminated or the year will be repeated under the specific circumstance of disqualification in conduct or grades and Certification of Completion will be issued.

Brief Introduction to International Affairs Division
Beijing Foreign Languages School, BFSU is an international school with distinctive features of foreign languages. The International Affairs Division, as the bridge for foreign exchanges of the school, is mainly responsible for organizing international exchange activities and cooperation projects, employing and managing foreign teachers, managing international students, organizing students to study abroad, receiving overseas teachers and students to participate in international summer camps, etc.
The International Affairs Division of BFLS-BFSU is under the direct leadership of the executive Vice Principal and has one director and full-time staff. The full-time teachers of the school undertake the teaching and management of international students. Now the International Affairs Division has nearly a hundred international students from South Korea, the United States, Britain, Malaysia, Brazil and other countries.
BFLS-BFSU has formulated strict requirements for international students and the management of teaching. Because of the standard and strict management, BFLS-BFSU in 2008 successively obtained the titles covering “Experimental School for the 100-School Project Awarded by China Basic Foreign Language Education Research & Training Center”, “Chess Training Base” awarded by Beijing Chess Commission, etc.
Relying on the abundant teaching forces of BFSU and by virtue of the unique advantages of BFSU for resources sharing, the school establishes multi-level education ranging from elementary school education to undergraduate and postgraduate education supported by Beijing Foreign Studies University. International students who pass the examinations of the school and obtain relevant certificates may enter BFSU after graduation from high school.

Staff Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language
The key to good education lies in teachers, which is the same to teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. The International Affairs Division of BFLS-BFSU has trained a high-quality and experienced teaching staff specially for international students. Now there are 5 professional teachers (with Master Degree) teaching Chinese as a foreign language and a number of subject teachers with experiences of teaching international students. They have international vision, high level of teaching, strong research ability, affection towards the cause of international education, high sense of responsibility and mission, proficient business skills, noble ethics and rich experiences in international education. Moreover, they are full of love and patience and they form a professional, harmonious, and enthusiastic team.
Effective Management of Modern Moral Education
1. International students management system -- In order to further standardize the management of International students, the school formulates a variety of measures, includingInternational Students Enrollment Management Manual, International Students Handbook, andDaily Behavior Code for International students.
2. Meeting of teachers teaching international students -- A meeting attended by all teachers is held every two weeks for timely acquaintance with the international students’ study and living conditions; psychological counseling teachers are also invited to attend the meeting for the mental health of international students so as to make files and follow up in a timely manner.
3. International students’ Union-- The school sets up the International students’ Union for self-management and self-education. The students’ union organizes a variety of extracurricular activities for international students in each semester, including Chinese speech contests, Chinese song contests, and Chinese calligraphy competitions.
4. International students tea party -- Two international students tea parties are organized in each semester. Teachers and students can share the life of the overseas study at the parties. The parties facilitate understanding of the living conditions of the students and make international students feel family-like care and warmth.
5. Home-School Contact Manual -- The home-school contact manual is used for promoting mutual communication and timely understanding of the conditions of the students in the school and at home.
6. Mental health lecture for international students -- The monthly mental health lecture for international students is organized by the Psychological Counseling Office to let the students rapidly adapt to life abroad from psychological aspect.
7. Social practice activities -- The school organizes social practice activities for international students in each semester, covering visiting the scenic spots of Beijing and participation in volunteer activities in communities so as to improve students’ humanity quality and cultivate their healthy personality.
