Admission Method:

• The merit-based admission is applied based on application materials and test scores. The admission letter will be sent out before July 10.
• Awards received during high school or expertise possessed has certain weight if appropriate documents are provided and certified by the school during the application.
• Applicants holding an admission notice of any of the world’s top 200 universities and having over 180 points for new HSK5 can be exempted from the test and apply for the similar major. (For the ranking, please go to http://www.shanghairanking.com/ARWU2011.html)

Term begins
Each year on September. (The exact time depends on the Admission Letter)

Tuition
RMB 24,800 per year (approx.US$3, 900).

Scholarship

Top 10 science students and Top 5 liberal arts students out of the test are eligible for “Shanghai Government Foreign Student Scholarship(Class B)”.

Accommodation
Building 8, Building 9, Building 10, Building 15 on SJTU Minhang Campus (Freshmen should live on campus.)

Qualification of Applicants: above the age of 18, healthy, non-Chinese citizen, foreign visa holders with senior high school diploma (or above).

Application Materials for undergraduate programs:

• Shanghai Jiao Tong University Application Form for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China(Fill out the electronic form as required. Print it, paste your photo and authenticate it with your signature. Forms filled in by hand are not accepted.);
• Senior high school diploma (Graduating students should provide an official proof of graduation for the time being. Once admitted, students must submit the graduation certification when they enter the university. Otherwise, it will result in cancellation of admission);
• Official transcripts of your academic achievement during the senior high school study, including courses taken;
• A minimum requirement of HSK 5 certificate to prove your Chinese language ability;
• One photocopy of your passport and two passport size photos;

Notes:

a. Materials in Articles 2 and 3 should be original documents or notarized copies, in English or other foreign languages. The Chinese version issued by notarized or certified units should be included.

b. The applicants should personally submit or entrust others to submit the application documents directly to any of the application locations. You may also apply through the mail. But the application documents must be sent before the deadline, otherwise the application shall be deemed to be invalid.

c. Regardless of the admission result, the application documents will not be returned.

Graduate admission:

The Graduate School of SJTU offers programs leading to the M.A., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in 22 doctor degree departments including 142 programs involving 63 disciplines and 18 master degree department including 267 programs, 10 professional master programs and 1 professional doctor program.
