For many years, the Military Museum has hosted a variety of timely large-scale theme and temporary exhibitions, in concert with the core objectives of the nation and army. These exhibitions have exerted a broad and profound influence on contemporary society. In recent years, widely acclaimed exhibitions held or undertaken by the Military Museum were: “Heroes and Martyrs of the CPC During the War to Resist Japanese Aggression” , “Marking the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Long March of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army”, “National Defense And Army Building Achievements since Founding of New China” ,“The Road to Rejuvenation” , “The Exhibition of Fighting against the Earthquake and Help Relief Work in Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province”, “60 Glorious Years: Achievements in National Defense Department.” “The Exhibition of Fighting Against the Earthquake and Help Relief Work in Yushu County of Qinghai Province”, “The Exhibition of Fighting Against Disaster and Aiding People in Zhouqu County of Gansu Province ”，“The Exhibition of the Rebuilding after Earthquake Happened in Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province” etc. The Military Museum also held other exhibitions on its own such as “The Exhibition of a Selection of Artworks and China’s Ancient Military Cultural Relics”, “The Itinerant Exhibition of Selected Oil Paintings Collected by the Military Museum”, “The Exhibition of Past Fourteen National Day Parades since Founding of New China”, “The Exhibition of CPC-led Soldiers and Masses behind Enemy Lines during the War against Japanese Invasion”. In July 1997 and July 2000, the Military Museum was invited to Russia and Romania to host an exhibition on, “The Exhibition of the Glorious Path of China’s PLA”; and to Hong Kong in 2008 for an exhibition on, “The Exhibition of China’s National Defense and Army Building Achievements since 1949.”
