Aydingkol Lake
(ài dīng hú 艾丁湖), located approximately 50 kilometers(about 31 miles)southeast of Turpan City (tǔ lǔ fān 吐鲁番), is at the bottom of the deepest depression in China's land mass, known as Turpan Pendi. The lake covers an area of 22 kilometers (about nine square miles) and measures 40 kilometers (about 25 miles) from west to east, eight kilometers (about five miles) from north to south. .This lake is the lowest lake in China and the second lowest lake in the world (second only to the Dead Sea) at 154m below sea level.

Lop Nur (luó bù bó 罗布泊) is is a group of small, seasonal salt lakes and marshes between the Taklamakan (tǎ kè lā mǎ gàn 塔克拉玛干) and Kuruktag (kù lǔ kè tǎ gé 库鲁克塔格) deserts in the southeastern portion of Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous region in northwestern China. (jiāo hé gù chéng yí zhǐ 交河故城遗址) are situated in the Yaernaizi Valley, 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) west of Turpan (tǔ lǔ fān 吐鲁番) in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (xīn jiāng wéi wú ěr zì zhì qū 新疆维吾尔自治区). The Ancient City of Jiaohe (Yarkhoto) was built with rammed earth and bricks 2300 years ago. The city, situated along the Silk Road, was of great military significance and played an important role in the economic communication between Western and Eastern countries.
