Travel in Hebei

   Qinhuangdao
Qinhuangdao (qín huáng dǎo 秦皇岛) lies in the northeastern part of Hebei (hé běi 河北) Province, at the junction point of Northeast China and North China. Leaning against Yan Mountains (yān shān 燕山) to the north and facing the Bohai Sea (bó hǎi 渤海) on the south. Qinhuangdao received its name from a legend that Qinshihuang (qín shǐ huáng 秦始皇), the first emperor of China, visited the city's coast 2,200 years ago. And he sent two fleets from here to explore its offshore islands where he believed immortals dwelled, after then it got the name of Qinhuangdao.
Qinhuangdao is a beautiful coastal city. The forestation ratio of the urban area is 41.1%, and the average public green land per capita is 8.3 square meters. There are over 350 days with second-class air quality or above each year. The whole city is like a huge natural oxygen bar. The concentration of negative oxygen ions is more than 7000 per cubic millimeter, 10 to 20 times that in other domestic cities. The fine ecological environment makes Qinhuangdao one of the cities in North China with the best environment for living and making a career.

Travel in Hebei

 Baoding Gu Lian Hua Chi

Baoding (bǎo dìng 保定) served for many years as the capital of Hebei (hé běi 河北) province. It acquired the name "Baoding" during the Yuan dynasty, and the name is roughly interpreted as "protecting the capital", referring to the city's proximity to Beijing. It has a long history tracing back to the Western Han Dynasty (xī hàn 西汉). It was destroyed by the Mongol (měng gǔ 蒙古) in the 13th century, but after the Mongol established the Yuan Dynasty (yuán cháo 元朝), it was rebuilt. The city's streets follow a rough grid pattern, although this is less obvious in the older part of the city. The traditional main street of old Baoding is Yuhua Road (yù huá lù 裕华路), running from the city's centre to its eastern edge and most of Baoding's historic buildings are located in this area, along with some of its larger shopping centres.

  the Mountain Resort

The Mountain Resort (bì shǔ shān zhuāng 避暑山庄), located in the city of Chengde (chéng dé 承德) in northeastern Hebei province, is China’s largest imperial garden. Twice the size of Beijing’s Summer Palace, construction spanned nearly ninety years, beginning under Emperor Kangxi (kāng xī 康熙) in 1703 and lasting through the greater part of Emperor Qianlong’s (qián lóng 乾隆) reign. The Mountain Resort often saw use as a de facto second capital as Kangxi set a precedent followed by Qianlong and a succession of other Qing emperors of spending much of the year at the garden. It used to be a summer resort and hunting ground for emperors of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). They also used the palace to organize martial art competitions and receive the elite of ethnic minority groups from around China. In 1994, the Mountain Resort became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
