 Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) is not only a national key university of high learning directly administered by the Ministry of Education, but also one of the earliest higher education establishments for agriculture. It has a good reputation both at home and abroad in all fields of agricultural science. Its predecessors were two agricultural colleges belonging to JinlingUniversity and NanjingUniversity (originally called the CentralUniversity)

The main campus of the university is situated in the picturesque eastern suburbs of Nanjing and is near the impressive and world-renowned Sun-Yat-Sen's Mausoleum. There is another campus in the suburb of Puzheng and an Experimental Farm in JiangpuCounty. Within the total area of 540 hectares and 40,000 square meters of building space, there are a great number of up-to-date laboratories and equipment. The well-stocked library contains a collection of 1,200,000 volumes. The present student enrollment at the university is more than 24,000, among whom there are about 5,200 postgraduate students.

全校现有生命科学学院、农学院、植物保护学院、资源与环境科学学院、园艺学院、动物科学技术学院(含渔业学院)、经济管理学院、动物医学院、食品科学技术 学院、信息科学技术学院、公共管理学院(含土地管理学院)、外国语学院、人文社会科学学院、理学院、工学院(含乡镇企业学院)、国际教育学院等16个学院 和体育工作部。另设有金陵研究院、成人教育学院、中华农业文明研究院、中央农业干部教育培训中心南农大分院等。
 
针灸是中国传统医学重要组成部分之一,历史悠久,应用广泛,可治疗多种疾病。将针灸应用于家畜和宠物,经过长期的医疗实践和理论研究,形成了兽医 针灸。兽医针灸理论精深,疗效独特,许多外国友人敬慕。南京农业大学动物医学院临床医学系中兽医教研室胡元亮教授、宋大鲁教授、周浩良教授、刘家国博士等 人,从事兽医针灸教学、科研和临床工作数十年,积累了丰富的经验,在国内外兽医针灸界有较高知名度。自1986年以来,应许多外国学者的要求,我校每年七 至八月定期举办国际兽医针灸培训班,目前已举办十四期,培训了来自英国、美国、日本、德国、瑞士的本科生、研究生、临床兽医师及访问学者数百名。培训以 犬、猫、马和牛等动物针灸为主要内容,既有理论学习,又有临床实践,再加上参观学习、旅游观光,使外国学者对中国传统医术和文化有了深入的理解,为中西医 结合奠定了基础。
 
Student Category and Program
 
Bachelor candidate
NAU offers 25 four-year undergraduate programs to overseas students (see Table 1). Overseas students have classes in Chinese with Chinese students, and therefore they must have high Chinese proficiency.
Master candidate
NAU offers 29 three-year master programs (see Table 2).
Ph.D. candidate
NAU offers 26 three-year Ph.D. programs (see Table 2)
Student for advanced studies
NAU offers one-to-two-year programs to overseas students for advanced studies. There are general advanced and senior advanced students. Overseas students have diverse choices of specialized subjects and research programs under the tutors' guidance.
Visiting scholar
Visiting scholars make independent researches in specialized subjects under tutors' guidance for a period of one month to one year.
Short-term course student
NAU offers short-term courses on veterinary acupuncture and traditional Chinese veterinary herbal medicine.

Qualification for Application
 
Bachelor Candidate
Applicants have to meet the following requirements
1. under the age of 25;
2. healthy;
3. have a senior high school certificate or above;
4. take the examinations of math, physics, chemistry and HSK (the Chinese Proficiency Test) organized by the Chinese Ministry of Education, and reach the set criteria;
5. high proficiency of English or Chinese.

Master Candidate
Applicants have to be under the age of 35, and have a bachelor's degree, or associate degree with a two-year engagement in a related field.

Ph.D. Candidate
Applicants have to be under the age of 40, and have a master degree, or a bachelor degree with a five-year engagement in a related field.
 
Application Procedure
1. Apply before May 31 for bachelor, master and doctoral programs. It is flexible for advanced studies and short-term courses.
2. Fill in the NAU Application Form for Foreign Students and the Physical Examination Record for Foreigners. Students who will study in China for less than 6 months do not need the latter form.
3. Submit the following materials to the College of International Education:
a. NAU Application Form for Foreign Students (original)
b. Physical Examination Record for Foreigners
c. Diploma of the highest degree you hold
d. Academic transcript
e. Letter of Recommendation (two referees)
4. To those who are accepted, NAU will send them an Admission Notice and Application Form for Foreign Students wishing to Study in China. Students should bear the two documents, and proceed to the Chinese embassy (consulate). Students who will study in China for more than six months should apply for a study visa (X visa); students who will study in China for less than six months should apply for a visit visa (F visa).
 
Time of Registration   
1. September 1 for degree candidates
2. Flexible for advanced students, visiting scholars and short-term    students.
