Tongji University is one of the leading universities directly under the State Ministry of Education in China. It offers degree programs both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The university has School of Sciences, School of Architecture and Urban Planning, School of Civil Engineering , Mechanical School, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, School of Material Science and Engineering, School of Electronics and Information Engineering, School of Traffic and Transportation, Medical School, School of Liberal Arts and Law, School of Foreign Languages，School of Economics and Management，School of Software Engineering，school of Ocean and Earth Science. In addition, there are Institute of Further Education, Institute of Higher Technology, Institute of Vocational and Technical Education, Institute of E-Education, Women's College, Institute of Automobile Marketing and Sino-German Institute which is authorized by Chinese and German governments to run postgraduate courses. There are also six university hospitals located in different campuses.

The university now registers over 50,000 students at all levels from certificate and diploma courses to Bachelors Degrees, Masters, PhD programs and post doctoral attachments. There are over 4200 academic staff for teaching and/or research, among whom there are 6 Members of Chinese Academy of Science, 7 Members of Chinese Academy of Engineering, over 710 professors and 1500 associate professors. The university offers diverse courses in its 82 Bachelors Degrees, 218 Masters, 94 PhD programs and 16 post doctoral mobile stations. As one of the state leading centers for scientific research, the university has 22 state key laboratories and engineering research centers. 

同济大学是教育部直属重点大学。她创建于1907年，早期为德国医生在上海创办的德文医学堂，取名"同济"意蕴合作共济。目前是一所拥有理、工、医、文、法、哲、经济、管理、教育9大学科门类的综合性大学。作为研究型大学，学校是首批被国务院批准成立研究生院的高校之一；作为全国重点大学，学校被列入国家财政立项资助的"211工程"和国家教育振兴行动计划与地方重点共建的高水平大学行列。

The International School of Tongji University was established in 1998, which is responsible for teaching and research of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. At present, there have been 378 international students from more than 40 different countries to study Chinese language, among which there are 86 students to pursue BA Degree of Chinese Language. The International School has possessed a teaching group with the vigor of youth and the optimization of teachers’ organizations, currently it has 16 members of faculty, of whom 6 with PhD and 8 with Master Degree. Today, Professor Cai Jianguo is the Dean of the International School and the Honorary Dean is Professor Chen Renfeng.

The International School possesses an integrated teaching system of degree and non-degree Chinese language studies. It has a 4-year BA Degree Program of Chinese Language (Economics and Trade Oriented), in which the students are going to be trained to have a good master of Chinese language and a comprehensive knowledge of Chinese society and culture, and they will be familiar with Chinese economic laws concerning international trade, and be competent in dealing with international business and communication in Chinese.

同济大学国际文化交流学院成立于1998年，是专门从事对外汉语教学和科研的二级学院。目前共有来自40多个国家的数百名外国留学生在院学习汉语，其中汉语言本科留学生近百名。学院拥有一支年龄结构，学科结构较为合理的师资队伍。学院现任院长为蔡建国教授，名誉院长为陈仁凤教授。
同济大学开展对外汉语教学的历史始于20世纪70年代，学校恢复招收外国留学生以后，即专门安排汉语教师为进入专业学习的外国留学生开设专业汉语课。1987年起，开设汉语言短训班，招收汉语言短期生，从1993年起，学校开始自行承担外国留学生进入专业前的汉语培训任务，从2002年起，学院招收汉语言专业本科留学生，2006年7月首届本科生顺利毕业。在长达30多年的对外汉语教学实践中，我校依托城市建设，建筑历史，旅游文化，经济管理等学科优势，走对外汉语教学与专业交融之路，受到外国留学生的欢迎。

国际文化交流学院构建有较为完整的学历和非学历汉语教学体系。汉语言（经贸方向）本科专业的教学目标是通过系统的汉语基础知识与技能教学，培养能够熟练掌握运用汉语，了解中国国情和文化，熟悉中国涉外经济法律与法规，具备用汉语从事经贸活动的能力，胜任与中国进行经贸合作与交流的有关工作的留学生。从2007年3月开始，汉语言本科班实行春秋两季招生。

The Short-Term Training Programs at the International school of Tongji University

Program Composing
We usually offer cooperative programs for group students & selective programs for personal applicants. We have cooperated with a lot of foreign universities & educational organizations in Chinese Language Training and Chinese Cultural Experience. We offer various courses to meet the requirements of our foreign partners. Personal application is available, but the group size should be more than ten participants, or he/she could be arranged in a suitable class.

Qualifications
Healthy and law-abiding, aging from 18 to 65.

Study Period
Cooperative programs: No more than three months during a year (better in summer or winter vacation, January to February or July to August).
Selective programs: winter vacation (Feb. 1st to Feb. 28th), summer vacation (Jul.10th to Aug.9th, Aug. 1st to Aug. 28th).

Courses Arrangement
For four-week program, it includes four Chinese classes every morning from Monday to Friday and two selective cultural courses, such as Calligraphy、Taiji Quan (shadow boxing)、Traditional Chinese Painting、Chinese Knot, etc. Each cultural course is for six classes. The city visits will be arranged twice during the study.

At weekends, we can organize self-paid sightseeing tours based on the willingness of the students.

The certificate will be issued by the International School after the completion of the program.

Tuition Fee （Textbook included）
RMB￥400 per person for application & RMB￥3000 per person for four-week program.
(Fees for cooperative programs could be negotiated.)

同济大学国际文化交流学院短期留学项目包括合作项目和个人申请项目。合作项目指经同济大学国际文化交流学院与国外大学、学院或其他教育机构协议合作开办的项目，可根据合作方要求开设各类特色课程班。个人申请项目指由申请者本人报名入学的项目。短期项目一般要求10人以上（含10人）开班。如果个人项目由于申请者人数不够无法组班，申请者可根据协商插班入学。

留学资格：
年龄在18～65岁、身体健康、遵纪守法的外籍人士。

留学时间：
合作项目：全年（最好每年的寒假1月至2月或暑假7月至2月）均可以根据合作方的需求，开设期限不满三个月的短期班。
个人项目：寒假班，每年春季的2月1日至2月28日；暑假班，每年夏季的7月10日至8月9日，8月1日至8月28日。

常规教学计划：
四周班：周一至周五，每天上午安排四课时汉语课程。期间，开设两门文化选修课，各6课时；组织两次市内参观活动（浦江夜览、参观博物馆或城市规划馆），也可根据学生要求组织一次学生交流访谈等活动。
我们还可以根据学生的需求视人数而定安排一些周边江南名镇旅游参观项目，学生可自愿报名参加，费用自理。
学习结束将获得同济大学国际文化交流学院颁发的短期进修结业证书。
